The day dawned bright and sunny with a bit of snow. We got our hoodies and heavy jackets (for the just in case) and headed out to explore prior to meeting up with friends. We were just down the road from Garden of the Gods, so we headed there.
As we took this picture, it was getting colder and darker. I told the kids, just think, lots of your friends are going to Jamaica, but you GET to be in Garden of the Gods in SNOW!! How lucky. They thought that was cool!
Amazing beauty!! I love this place!
Hurry Mom, it's super heavy!!
What are you talking about, it's nothing but a big rock to hold up!
It was slushy, and we missed our boots!
Balancing Rock--then we drove to Manitou Springs, looked around the stores, got some salt water taffy, saw and read about multiple springs in town, checked out the pumps and houses, looked at toy stores, enjoyed the town. Always loved that place too! Rory bought a dream catcher to catch his bad dreams. Let's see if it works....We then met with Cindy and her twins, Aiden and Chase, and Rebecca and her two boys, Nicky and Jacky, and had lunch at Waffle House. Then headed to Ghost Town. None of us had been, but it was inside and looked fun for kids.
We learned lots about the Old West and how they lived "back then". There was a jail complete with a "creepy" talking guy. The kids LOVED yelling to him so he would talk back! Yikes!! There was a shooting gallery, store, saloon (complete with "peep show" machines--we were out of quarters though), bank, post office, and a house. There were buggies, and a "ghost" piano. The kids thought that was fun too!
Alas though, I ran out of battery there, so that was SAD!! There was a funny mirror there that made them look like midgets. It was so funny to watch them dance and prance in front of the mirror and giggle!! Oh my goodness!!

He had to buy something every place we went. I think he might have had a spending problem. Once we got home, he set out his clothes, (including socks) with his necklace to make sure it "matched". Oh my...luckily it did!
