I started the Saturday Running Club again. Missed last week cause I was feeling under the weather, and I worry about getting bronchitis....because it takes me FOREVER to get over it. I did go this week, and boy, they are starting us out hard!! 1.5 miles, 2.5 minutes running, 1 min walking....holy, I have not done anything since Thanksgiving.....I so wanted to throw up!! But feels good to get out there again, and I was really proud of how I did!! Now, to get up every AM at 5:30 and run. Need to decide if I'm doing it inside (yuck) or outside (cold). I'm also lifting weights as well, so we will see how this goes....by golly, I'm going to rock this out!!
The following is for posterity...as this is our family log of items!! So feel free not to read if you don't want to know crazy things about me!
Stay away bronchitis!!! In Colorado many moons ago, my good friend Cindi and I went to Breckenridge for a day of skiing. I'd skied when I was about 3 with my mom, but hadn't since. We get there, Cindi says, get your skis on. Okay, how do you do that? I finally get them on...and if you haven't been to Breckenridge, its BUSY with LOTS of EXPERIENCED people. Who are not patient or kind. I finally get going to the lift, ride it (hate heights) get off, fall down, get up, fall down, get up, fall down. If you didn't notice, we didn't do a practice run, oh no we didn't. Cindi, my dear, sweet friend took me to the TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN and said.....ski.....so I did!! Or rather, didn't.
Boy, I would get up, ski, fall down. I was tired, hadn't been feeling well, Chad hadn't wanted me to go, but I did anyway (would you expect less from me?) I can do anything. Well, I remember half way down the mountain, laying there, watching all the kids fly by me, little ones I might add, hurting, trying not to cry, and wondering how embarrassing it would be if one of those really nice snow mobiles would take me down? I'm just stubborn enough to know that wasn't an option, so I got up, skied a bit, fell and continued on that path.
Well, we ended up at the bottom of the run in a COMPLETELY different area than our car. I'm EXHAUSTED, mad I've spend $40 on a lift ticket for one run, and feeling bad Cindi stayed with me the entire time, and starting to feel like total dog poo. We warm up a bit, I take some medication, Cindi goes on another run, and comes back to the lodge.
We hike in our boots to the bus, get back to the other side of the mountain where our car is, and I don't remember if she did another run or not.
Back at the hotel, um, I'm so sick....it was NOT good.
I was a trainer then, so would go in, train in small rooms cause I had no voice, and keep going. Finally after about a month my boss sent me home after a session. I laid on the couch, slept, woke up and thought I might die!! I ended up with a sinus infection, laryngitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia. NOT GOOD if you haven't done that. So I would train a few hours, go home, repeat. It took me about 4 months to feel normal!
So since then, whenever I get a cold, I am VERY careful as I get bronchitis like no body's business. I think I might have thwarted it this time....so YEAH!!
Cindi--I still love you--you know that, right?? I even went a few more times with her....once about a month after having Paige via C-Section....again, not such a great idea, but super fun, and she even got to sit there while I pumped!! LOL....paybacks!!
