Thanksgiving 5k

Paige and I have been running for 3 months in preparation for our first 5k. Paige joined Girls on the Run, and organization for 8-11 year old girls to help them learn to deal with peer pressure, healthy eating, body image, self worth, and running. I joined Fleet Feet's Saturday warriors where we met to run each Saturday.

Thanksgiving morning was chilly, and we headed down to the Goody's booth, who is a sponser for GOTR. We did hair, and got some fun hair items. Paige was #120, and I was #119. Amber was #1, with Sierra #386. There were about 550 runners for this first GOTR 5k. GOOD showing!!
We got to running at 9am, and it was really packed the first mile, then spread out. She did so good!! And it was SO cold. After mile one, we started to get toasty, but couldn't figure how to take a layer off, as our number had to be visable and was on our bright orange GOTR shirt. Everyone else got a dark green, but the orange was to show the girls and their running buddies. Our goal was to come in under 48 minutes, as our practice 5k had been 52 minutes.
Well, we came in at 41.41 and 41.52 minutes!! Yeah for us!! She did so good! I was so proud of her, and I had such a fun time sharing this first milestone with her!!
After that, we came home, had a warm shower, took some naps and then Thanksgiving was later at 3pm....good food and lots of family and friends!! Piper, Sierra, Violet, Amber, Grandma and Grandpa Adams, Matt and Abby from Chad's work, Esmeralda my friend from work. I love having lots of people at my house eating and sharing with us!!

I'll join the next Saturday's Warriors and I think Paige may join GOTR again!! Great experiance for us both!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Ready for the Holiday?

Okay, so I got a new camera, and figuring out the downloading DRIVES ME NUTS!! Argg...and in the middle of this, Chad decided to change the way he is filing things! Seriously...sometimes I wonder about his thought process....alas....
Yesterday we went to the parade down town. Well, minus Rory. He lost his coats (well, 2 of them) this past week, so his consequence for not bringing them home was no parade, and no TV this week. Paige and I thought about running the Jingle Bell Run, but haven't been feeling well, so we just skipped it. We will next year. Promise!
Parade was good, forgot my camera, and boy, was it COLD!! I should have worn my Sorel's. My feet were FREEZING!!
We went to Walmart (hate the place, but they had most of what I needed) to get some Christmas organizers, ect. Then hurried home to change for the ballet. We were going to do dinner, but people were busy, so next year!
Piper, Amber, Paige and I went to the Nutcracker....beautiful dresses!! Grandma, maybe we can have Christmas Dresses early for this occasion? Oh well, it was super fun, and a great first ballet.
After, Amber had some things to do, so we called Chad and Rory and had them meet us at McMinnemum's. Yummy--and it was warm inside.
After that, the kids kept saying they didn't feel good. Oh boy....
This AM, Rory didn't feel good, and got in our bed, and I kept saying, if you barf in here.....HE DIDN'T!! Yeah!! He didn't barf at all, though we all wanted to.
Stayed home from church, he laid on the couch and snoozed a bit, Paige got in a bit of trouble and was sent to her room for a minute. She then passed out at 5:30 and is still asleep 3 hours later. Wondering how she is feeling?
Made some more cookies. Will need to make more, Chad's been eating the ones I made and put away a bit ago. Dang that boy! How will neighbors get some goodies??? Geez!!
Hoping to put up some decorations, but only lights came out of the shed today. Maybe tomorrow....

Laundry Day

We have piles of laundry to fold, and we've gotten in a habit of doing all the laundry, then having a "folding party". For a while we watched DVD's of the old Wonder Woman Show. Boy--that show ROCKED!! Then once in a while we will get a movie from Redbox or Blockbuster. Well this AM, I mentioned it was a laundry folding party and we would watch a Christmas movie. Rory said...YES!! Pizza night...so because ONE night we folded, watched a movie, AND got a pizza, I guess it's a done deal.
So we stayed up late, watched Santa Clause 2, folded and ate pizza. Might have to do it again, as I have 3 more loads. How does that happen I ask???

Also, this year we started a new tradition. I purchased 2 wreaths, and let the kids decorate as they pleased. Then nightly, Chad or I put a tag on their wreath with a note about something we love/appreciate about each kid. I thought we might scrapbook them yearly so they know we did love and appreciate them amid all the other loudness....LOL. It's been fun, and after just one day, they are calmer and appreciative towards everyone....hummmm...I might be on to something! Hee Hee!
